I'm running Vista Home Premium on a 2 month old HP. There are 3 hard
drives --- the original one from HP, the old one from my old computer
(both internal), and a drive that is external, connected via USB, that
I use to hold my backup disk image files.

For a few weeks, no problem. Lately, every time I double click on the
external drive in Windows Explorer, Windows Easy Transfer starts
running. If I right-click instead and then click on "Open", there's
no problem (Easy Transfer does not open).

Any ideas on how to stop this unwanted loading of Easy Transfer?

Re: Windows Easy Transfer

Click Start, type the following and press ENTER:

cmd /k dir f:\

Assuming that f:\ is the drive-letter for the external drive. If not,
substitute accordingly.

Copy the output and post here.

Here's the autorun.inf. BTW, I've deleted this
file and the Easy Transfer file still loads.

[Autorun]
open=.\MigWiz\migsetup.exe
icon=.\MigWiz\migsetup.exe
action=@.\MigWiz\en-US\migsetup.exe.mui,-109

Re: Windows Easy Transfer

Did you reboot the system once, after deleting the Autorun.inf file? Or
restart explorer.exe process.

Re: Windows Easy Transfer

I tried deleting the autorun file, then rebooting. Still started up
the WET. I then deleted the Migwiz folder and now I get a file not
found error.

Re: Windows Easy Transfer

Try running the FixDrive tool here:
http://www.winhelponline.com/articl...on-a-mapped-network-drive-in-My-Computer.html

Select "M:\" from the list, click "Fix".
Restart Windows.
