Is there any way to make a remote desktop connection to a machine without
forcing an existing windows session to end? I am looking for a way that I
can connect to and control a machine without needing the user of that
machine make a request for remote assistance.

Re: remote desktop to server

That is default with a remote connection to a server version OS. Maybe these
are what you're looking for. Other options would be the use of third party
tools.

Re: remote desktop to server

We use Dameware to connect to desktops without forcing the user off. Both of
you can see the desktop and either can access the mouse or kb, altho the
Dameware user can lock the mouse and kb to prevent the desktop user from
interfering.
