Flash Player

[JustUs]

I have read previous posts on Flash Player, tried many of the suggestions,
still having issues.

Used the Adobe uninstall, reinstalled v9.0.124, still not working on some
sites.
Uninstalled, tried v8.0.24, still not working on some sites.
Uninstalled, tried v9.0.16, still not working on some sites.
Uninstalled, reinstalled 9.0.124
Tried installing KB917344, not working on some sites.

IE6 is OK
Firefox is OK
IE7 setting appear to be OK per the posts
Tried the script suggested in this post by Jon -

Two particular sites that have issues are www.lowes.com (weekly ads) and
eBay (sample item 130233686527)

I have yet to hear from Adobe - weeks now

Considered contacting the sites where Frash Player is failing to work
properly? There are all sorts of tricks that programmers pursue and,
sometimes, they do not work out, especially when it comes to tweaking
code to squeeze out that little extra.

I also had trouble with websites with Flash presentations that
started last December after updating my Flash player. It froze up
both my IE v.6 and my Opera browsers. Updating Opera didn't
help the Opera frreze-ups. Even the Flash presentations on the
Adobe website were crashing my browsers, and especially the
Flash presentation at www.Kingwin.com . What I always got
was an error reporting an invalid push command. (I have a PII
CPU running at 450MHz, made in January, 1999). So I joined
the growing chorus of complainers about Flash player. Then,
about 3 weeks ago, I noticed that the Adobe website no longer
crashes my browsers, although the Kingwin site still crashes both
of them. I theorize that Adobe has made a change in its editor,
and not until the update permeates to all the web's Flash developers
and those developers re-generate their Flash presentations with the
updated Flash editor will my browsers be able to render Flash
at all websites.

Yes, I have contacted both of the sites and they tell me that it works fine
I guess the temporary solution is to use Firefox for the sites that I know
Flash doesn't work on.

Thanks for the reply. I am inclined to agree with you in part. But when I
reverted to v8 I still had the problem. Maybe I will try v6 or 7 to see what
works. However, keep in mind that there are no current issues with IE6. So it
appears to me that the issue, or a part of it, lies with IE7.

Of course, these webmasters would say that their site is OK. After all,
the webpage was written for their site and the programmer would not have
gotten paid if it had failed under these circumstances. But this outcome
also reminds me of a situation encountered here where the web server was
a Macintosh and the webpage was tweaked for IE 4.0. Ran perfectly in all
the Macintoshes at the location but did it ever run into problems with
Netscape 4.X in all of the Windows-PC machines. (Being a Mac shop, they
did not even have a Wintel machine just to do a thorough check.) The
end result was that the programmer had to re-do the entire webpage in
pure HTML without using any of the IE (or other) short-cuts and plug-ins.

Hey I Was Uninstalling Flash 8 And Accididently Got Rid Of Adobe Flash Player
On Add Or Remove Programs And Downloading The Latest Version Doesn't Do
Anything I Need Help.

I did not know that there was a "RESET" or repair feature incorporated in
the IE7 menu. Go to Tools, Internet Options, Advanced and click reset at the
bottom. All you add-ons will be disabled. Go back and enable the ones you
want. Flash Player now works on all sites, and sites asking to upgrade IE now
work as well. Amazing MS had the solution all along - hmmmmm.
