No "Log Off" or "Disconnect" from Server 2008 Remote Desktop?

Hi, I've just setup my first Windows 2008 Standard server and noticed one
odd thing, it doesn't have the "Disconnect" option like Server 2003 did in
the bottom of the Start Menu. The option to Log Off is there, but it's
burried and I would like to put it back under the Start Menu and not hide it
under the options button.

So does "Lock" replace the "Disconnect" option?
And can I add "Log Off" as a button or link on the new "Start Menu"? (Not
the Classic Start Menu)

I do like the new Vista-esque menu, and especially the Start Search feature.
I haven't had any serious problems with Server 2008 yet. I did have some
minor SQL 2005 backwards compatability issues. (I needed SQL SP2, and VS
2005 SP1). And I had an issue with Remote Desktop data encryption, but I
fixed that by disabling "IPv4 Large Send Offload" on my NIC card properties.
I also had to upgrade my AV software. (Sheesh, is nothing backwards
compatible?!) I'm not running AD on this box, just using it for SQL
services. It takes some getting used to, but so far so good!

Hello 9Nails,

If you just choose the X in the upper right corner and close the RDP window
you have the Disconnect option. Log off is only available in Classic start
menu.

add logoff to your start menu

add logoff to your start menu

Fire up local group policy editor, (run/gpedit.msc) and go under User Configuration / Administrative Templates / Start Menu and Templates ... there is a group policy setting that is third down on mine "Add Logoff to the Start Menu" which I think will do what you want. I think disconnect might be in there somewhere as well.
