What does it take to bring in (redirect) ONLY the clients default printer? I
have a group policy set at teh user OU level specifing to redirect user
default printer. The check mark is checked in the user profile in AD to
Connect client printers at logon and Default to main client printer.
Terminal Server Configuration is set to Use connection settings from user
settings. Is there something I'm missing? At this point every user that
logs in has all their windows printers redirected, they are Domain Users.

Re: Terminal Server 2003, Defalut Printer

It takes a hotfix and a registry entry:

911913 - How to redirect the default printer of a Terminal Services
client to a Windows Server 2003 Terminal Server session

Re: Terminal Server 2003, Defalut Printer

I downloaded and installed "The Hotfix" last night, rebooted and today I
still see many printers per user session available. **NOTE- The "Hotfix"
installs RDP Client 5.1 on my server, so I ran windows updates and upgraded
it to the latest for Server 2003, and the other update has to do with TSWEB,
I installed it, but see no difference. Most of my clients have the
FilterQueueType=FFFFFFFF, but how is one to add RedirectDefaultPrinterOnly
reg key for ALL USERS THAT CONNECT? It would also be virtually impossible
for me to change the FilterQueueType=1 or 2 or whatever, since these are
client machines and not my company machines, not to mention I have over 300
clients connecting daily, and 3/4 of them would not know how their printer is
even connected TCP/IP, LPT, USB. The only way to fix the issue from my
investigation, is to purchase a 3rd party app like UNIPRIT, or move to Server
2008. I'm in the process of upgrading but do need to leave a couple of 2003
TS boxes for Win2000 users, but there is no doubt that with my current GPO
set all user that meet the client side requirments for 2008 TS, only see
their default printer, which is redirected via TS Easy Print, withou me
having to load a single driver on the server. But would love to still have
this issue taken care of in 2003.

Re: Terminal Server 2003, Defalut Printer

You will have to find a way to add the registry key on all of the
clients.
Maybe you can create a .reg file and make it available to your
users, with instructions to double-click the file and thus import
the registry key?

Re: Terminal Server 2003, Defalut Printer

This has to be done on the client side?
To configure default printer redirection for only the current user, locate
and then click the following registry subkey instead:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Terminal Server
Client\Default\AddIns\RDPDR
3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
4. Type RedirectDefaultPrinterOnly, and then press ENTER.
5. Double-click RedirectDefaultPrinterOnly, type 1 in the Value data box,
and then click OK.

Note Type 0 in the Value data box to disable the registry entry. Setting the
value data to 0 turns off default printer redirection.
6. On the File menu, click Exit to quit Registry Editor.
IF SO, that is unconceivible, due to having HUNDREDS of clients and me not
being their IT person. I can't just add reg keys to client's computers, not
to mention 1/2 of them don't have access to edit the registry.
