Hi,

I have a 2003 Server that I want to connect with via RDP from XP
clients, and start a program automatically on connection to the 2003
Server. This all works fine except the local printers on the XP
clients are not available in the RDP Session.

It makes no difference if the program is start via the RDP client or
via the Environment Settings in the users Properties.

If I use the same login details and don't start the program
automatically, but start it manually after connection to the 2003
Server the local printer resources are available.

Can anyone tell me why the printer resources are not available when I
automatically start a program?

TIA

Greg

Re: Problem with local resources

Does this happen with any application? Also when you define notepad
as the starting application?

Re: Problem with local resources

How are you starting automatically? With an RDP file? Are the printer
redirections configured in the RDP file?

Via RDP program tab or via Environment Tab for user. Both with the
same result.

No RDP file, just start RDP put in the IP Address and printer
redirections.

Yes any application including Notepad.

BTW - Starting the applications via either a BAT or VBS files gives
the same results.
