hi,

on ultimate, all of a sudden I can't access Application Data folder
under C:\Users\<Username>\ this is the first time this happens.. I'm
only person who uses my machine and my acct has always been admin..
(at location of folder it now shows a shortcut icon to Application Data
folder, but before it used to be folder, not a shortcut to it..) what
could have changed??

(I need access to this folder b/c need to copy a backed-up copy of
Normal.dot into C:\....\<Username>/Application Data\Microsoft\Templates

thank you..

Hi maya,

C:\Users\<user>\Application Data was and is a junction point, and appears as
a shortcut because that's all it is. You cannot access these junction points
as there is nothing actually in them. The correct folder you are thinking of
is C:\Users\<user>\appdata.

Normal.dot would be under:
C:\Users\<users>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates

Those folders are there for use in a domain environment.
