Windows Vista Visa Ultimate installation without DVD

Please assist me so I do not go home and kill the salesman that sold me the
new latptop.

I bought this Packard Bell SB88 with Vista Ultimate already installed, when
I asked him for the installation DVD he told me that he would supply recovery
disks, in fact they were ghost images for the hard drive!!
So I do not have the original installation dvd's, first problem, the next
one is when I logged onto the Windows web site to get some assistance it asks
for the Product Number for the installation, the number I got from from the
system is not recognised, problem two. Lastly my main reason for wanting to
reinstall Vista again is that I cannot get even a simple 3D game to play on
my machine, the spec's should be more than adaqute, Duel Core 2.0 HZ with 2
GB ram with 512 MB graphics card.

Any help in all three problems will be greatly apprecaited:)

Yes that is correct. The computer should have a Recovery partition/HD that
has the install for the O/S and all things needed such as drivers, etc on
the HD. So it's imperative that you make a DVD copy of the part of the hard
drive so that in case you loose the O/S, you can go to that DVD copy and
reinstall the O/S.

I think you may have instructions in a booklet or some other paperwork
talking about making the recovery DVD or call the manufacturer's tech
support and have them tell you how to make the Recovery DVD.

When the O/S has been pre-installed, then that's what you have to do out of
the gate before you do anything else with the computer.

You have to register the product ID in order to use something like that I
would think.

If the software doesn't say it's Vista compliant, then it may not run
period.

The last thing is one doesn't run around thinking that if they installed
software that worked on XP that it's going to run on Vista. And by
installing non Vista compliant software can/does lead to O/S problems and/or
problems with other programs running on Vista.

1. Look for a 2nd partition on your Hard drive; it should be the Recovery
partition.
Check at the manufacturer's websote on how to make Recovery DVDs in case of
hard drive failure.
Right at startup, there will be shown a F Key on the bottom of screen,
which is used to do a System recovery in case of System crash, to take it
back to factory standards.

2. The Product ID willl not be recognised by misrosoft, as ALL support,
hardware and software, has to be done by computer manufacturer as is is OEM
pre-installed.

3. Sorry, I am not a gamer.
BUT, 1st thing to do is update the Graphics Card drivers at tha Card's
manufacturer's website, NOT windows Update!
