Hi folks,
I have a Server 2003 R2 running terminal server. I need to change it from
workgroup to a new AD domain. Will the TS licenses need to be reestablished
and if I cannot find my original license info will that present a problem ?

Where is your TSLS currently installed? If you can't find your original
license info, I'd recommend that you call the Microsoft Clearinghouse before
you do the migration.

One problem you are definitely going to have is with User Profiles, which
will be recreated from the default user profile the first time users logon,
if you don't migrature user's settings.

I would highly recommend that you completely test this before just trying
and hoping for the best. You could do this in Virtual PC, Hyper-V, Virtual
Server, Vmware Workstation....

RE: move terminal server from workgroup to ad

Patrick,
Thank you for your response, I will contact MS CLH. As my TSLS is on the
same server as TS. The testing is a fine idea.
As it turns out I was able to create the new Forest / domain on the new
server and moved the DHCP and DNS off of the TS, leaving the TS running as it
is. I still would lke to upgrade this TS as a member server this is where the
testing will be crucial.
Is there a paper on migrating the users from their workgroup accts to a new
domain acct?
Again thanks much for the help.
