Hi, I'm running Windows XP Home Edition. When I turn on the computer,
the monitor screen is pixelated and hard to read. The machine boots
up, I get the Windows logo, and then a black screen. Nothing is wrong
with the monitor (hooked it up to another computer). Any ideas?

If you tried another monitor and got the same results then you know the
issue lies with hardware failure on your computer. Start by swapping out
the video card for a known-working one. Since we know nothing of the recent
history of this machine or anything about its specs, that's as specific as
I can get.

You have hardware failure. There's really no way for me to guess what
component has failed from your brief post. Either do hardware
troubleshooting or take the machine to a competent local computer repair
shop. I don't recommend using a BigComputerStore/GeekSquad type of place.
