This is Venkata. I have a Laptop which has Windows XP Media Center SP2. I am
getting the following error while updating windows using windows update.

I have followed all the steps you mentioned in the thread. I registered the
dlls mentioned in the thread. I tried to restart "Automatic Updates" service.
Then I am getting an error message with error code: 0x8007277a.

I have turned off Windows firewall and also disabled the eTrust anti virus.
I have no NOD32 anti virus installed on my machine.

Please let me know the solution. i have been blocked by this problem for the
past one week. I can not install .net framework 3.0 and 3.5 because of this
issue.

Do NOT connect the machine to the internet without a firewall being enabled!

You should only have one (1) anti-virus application installed and loading at
boot. Uninstall eTrust or NOD32, reboot, and see if your problems persist.
If they do, please begin your own thread about the problems.
