I've built a new DC and made it my operations master. The old DC was
configured for time updates from time.windows.com but that didn't seem to
work very well. Anyway, I want to make my new operations master point to an
outside time source - what do you all recommend as this source?
Also, how should I go about making my old operations master point to my new
operations master for time synchronization - just delete all of the entries
pointing it outside?

Thanks!

Re: W32time and moving operations master

hello,

by default, all computers sync time with the dc which is pdc emulator (even
others DC).
So, normaly, only this one has to sync outside.
Maybe a firewall is blocking it from syncing with this external ntp server ?

If you want all computers to sync to a server other than the pdc emulator,
you will have to configure them.
I wouldn't add that pain to myself for just time sync.

Thanks! I'll check my firewall and proxy to see if that's the problem. My
former pdc emulator still thought it was authoritative, so I had to change
that, but I'll let the other machines sync to the new pdc emulator.

Thanks!
