I have 15 remote users who are accessing a TS2008 server via rdp sessions.
The TS 2008 server is on a W2K3 domain. They logon to a local domain and then
the RDP session fires up from the startup folder (?). I'm sure there is not,
but is there anyway to get them to logon directly to the TS2008 server?

Also as part of Win XP active desktop we have an html file that is on the
desktop with various links and shortcuts etc, how can put this on the desktop
of these users as I can see no way of doing it on the TS 2008 server?

Thanks.

Re: TS 2008 Questions

You could always go with a 3rd party client like iShadow or you might want
to try replacing the shell with the mstsc client. I've always had really
success with completely locking down the native desktops and then firing off
mstsc with the run reg entries or the startup folder.

As for active desktop, this would be a bad idea as RDP does not have any
features in it that would make active desktop efficient enough over the wire
to be usable. The screen redraws would kill you from a performance
standpoint. that's why, by default, so much of the background is completely
disabled to begin with in a TS session.

Re: TS 2008 Questions

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the response. Ok, Active desktop is no problem, no show stopper
anyway. Regarding replacing the shell, could you provide me with some more
information or tech articles? This sounds exactly what I am looking for to
lock the PC down.

Another question I have thought of as well regarding GPO on the TS server,
will the 2003 GPO manage all the features of of Windows Server 2008? for
example, stopping minimising and resizing etc of the screen?
