I am working on a file server that is running WS2003R2. That I need help
with the correct permissions (this was setup before me, so I am trying to
figure out the logic of it).
There is a top Level Share called PUBLIC.
* All Domain Users and also a Public Level Security User Group (PLSG - all
domain users belong to it).
* Both of these accounts have Read only access applied to "This Folder,
only" (there are no files in the top level folder).
The next level down are some more organization folders Programs, Archive,
etc.
* The PLSG has Read only acceess appllied to "This Folder only).
* There are no files in these folders
Inside of each folder are folders called:
* DATA
* DOCUMENTS
* FORMS
* OTHER
* WORKS IN PROGRESS
PUBLIC\PROGRAMS\DOCUMENTS
This folders have all the files that the PLSG work with.
* These folders, the PLSG has full permissions applied to the folders.
What they want is for the PLSG to have full permissions applied to the files
and subfolders in the DATA, DOUMENTS, etc folder, but not able to delete or
change the Top folder itself (DATA, DOCUMENTS, etc).
I tried applying the premissions to Subfolders and files only, but then it
gives a not accessable errror. Is becuase of the "This Folder only" applied
to the folder above in the tree?
How should I set the permissions to accomplish what they want?
