Hi All…
I am running a production Windows Server 2003 SP2 on C:\ with Exchange 2003
installed on E:\ when the E:\ drive was full in the morning and has 0 bytes
free space!

I tried to free and delete or move some files but they appear shortly after
I do that again and no changes in the size appeared. After restarting the
sever, I start to get this error:

E:\ is not accessible.
There is not enough space on the disk.

Also the Exchange services and some other service couldn’t start. This drive
E:\ has all the Information Store and the files!!!
Any idea how to resolve this?

Is there no other data that you can move off the drive other than your
exchange stores?
If not you should ask some exchange spcialists in the exchange group
on how to move your store to a partion/volume with more free space.

After resolving this issue with the assistance of the Exchange newsgroup,
implement an automatic process that checks the available disk space on
a daily basis and alerts you automatically when it falls below 20% of
capacity. You should never allow yourself to be pushed into a corner
like this!

Hello Aws,

Run the exchange performance wizard and move the database and logfiles to
a disk where you have enough space. Also you can run an exchange backup,
i think also possible with NTBackup, and choose the complete exchange checkboxes.
If i am not wrong the backup will backup al;so the logfiles and after the
backup it will delete them. You need the logfile, each round 5MB, to recover
the server mailboxes to including all emails. If you just delete the logfiles
you can not go back to an earlier state of the server, but it will still
running on without the logfiles. So either move all to a bigger disk or at
least move or delete the logfiles and exchange will start again.

Thanks all of you for your suggestions.
I will try these suggestions although Exchange Services are already down! I
will strat them manually and hope they can give me access to the Exchange
Server Manager.

I couldnt access the hard disk to get to the log files!! I couldnt start the
Exchange Services either!!
E:\ is not accessible.
That was my original problem!! How can I get access into moving or deleting
any thing??

Do you mean I run the "Performance Monitor Wizard"? Will it be able to run
considering the situaion of the E dirve not accessible!!!

What exactly do you mean with "I couldn't access the hard
disk"? How are you trying to access it? What happens when
you do? What do you see when you boot the server with a
Bart PE boot CD?

I did not boot the Server using "Bart PE boot CD" (do you mean this
http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/ )

The server is in Bruxelles actually and I am setting in Copenhagen (but
still can access it remotely)

What I mean with "I couldn't access the hard disk" is that I see the E: \
driver when I open My Computer but the Total Size and Free Space are not
shown!!! And when I double click on it, it display the error message
E:\ is not accessible.
There is not enough space on the disk.

What are the suggested steps please?

I would connect the disk to the machine where it originally came from,
then copy all the files to some freshly formatted spare disk. If the
information on the disk is important then I would not make any
repair attempts until I had a perfectly readable copy.
