Windows 2008 system state errors

When I try to backup a Windows 2008 based DC, GC etc I get errors on
backuping the system state.

Backup Exec 12 gives me (open file option either turned off or on):
Backup- System?State System?StateThe item System?State\System Files\System
Files in use - skipped.
-----
Windows Backup gives me:
Enumeration of the files failed.
The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.

Ok, so we have a system state problem. Are there any tools to diagnose this
problem?

We are running Windows 2008 Server on a HP Proliant ML 350G5. We are running
64bits. Exchange 2007 is active. The server has all AD roles (I mean DC, GC,
FMSO etc etc).

Anyone any ideas on how to diagnose these system state errors?

For BE12 contact Symantec support. How do you run the backup in windows,
with the GUI or wbadmin tool? What command are you using with wbadmin to
run it?

Do you run it with the administrator account or your domain admin? If your
own did you also try it with an elevatd command prompt?

We have a saying the Netherlands: "I was not born yesterday".

Again: Who knows how to diagnose the system state files on possible errors
as both Backupexec 12 and Windows Backup experience problems while trying to
backup the system state.

Both programs were used and configured correctly accordingly to the
standards of both Symantec and Microsoft. The problem lies within the system
state or the way Windows 2008 reads the system state for backup purposes. I
have no events around the time I try to backup the system state either.

I have the exact same issue - cannot resolve. Has anyone found a solution?
