Rt/click on Computer.
Properties.
Advanced system settings.
Advanced.
Startup and recovery/ click settings, then Untick Automatically restart.

Next time you get the error, you`ll be able to write down the full error
code.
This will help to resolve your problem.

Re: Blue Screen - Vista Home Edition

Hi,

BCCode d1 is usually a driver error. Send this file to me at
rick_at_mvps_dot_org using a subject line of 'per req' to get past filters:

> C:\Windows\Minidump\Mini072608-01.dmp

It may contain information needed to point out which driver file is the
problem.

Re: Blue Screen - Vista Home Edition

bw,

I unlocked auto restart and just got the following blue screen message:

" DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL"

Near the bottom of the message was the following:
***STOP: 0X00000001, (0X00000000, 0X00000002, 0X00000008, 0X00000000)

A search didn't produce a number sequence exactly like the above.

Re: Blue Screen - Vista Home Edition

I was able to fix the blue screen pblm I was having by installing SP1
(thanks Rick). However, when I run sfc /scannow it tells me it was unable to
repair some corrupt files. In looking at the CBS log I see 4 files that
it says were corrupted and unable to repair. img20.jpg, img22.jpg,
img23.jpg and user.bmp. Can someone give me some direction on the easiest
way to repair the files?

Thanks

Don

Re: Blue Screen - Vista Home Edition

Hi,

Don't worry about them, they are just corrupt image files that will have no
effect on the system.

Re: Blue Screen - Vista Home Edition

Rick,

Thanks for your response. Even tho they are only image files I would like
to fix them, so that when I run SFC /scannow it will not show any corrupt
files. That way if I have some future problem and I run scannow and it
shows corrupt files it couldn't repair, I'll know it's not the same images
files that are corrupted now. For me it took a long time to sort through the
CBS log to find the corrupted files I have now.

Is there a fairly easy way to fix the corrupted image files I now have?

Don

Re: Blue Screen - Vista Home Edition

You probably will not be able to actually fix them, just delete them if the
error message bothers you except for user.bmp, that is the user profile's
picture. Select a different one.

Re: Blue Screen - Vista Home Edition

Rick,

I understand how to fix the user.bmp, but, am unable to locate the .jpg
files mentioned early. Did a search in the windows folder. and on my C
drive. Tried search for an individual file "img22.jpg and *.jpg no luck. I
copied a section from the CBS log (see below) can you point me where to look
for the .jpg files?

Re: Blue Screen - Vista Home Edition

Looks like an image embedded in a system file. Not something you can fix by
any means I know of. Again, it's not something that's going to have any

Re: Blue Screen - Vista Home Edition

Hi Rick,

I found the jpg files in "Windows/web/wallpaper" and deleted them. Also
changed user.bmp picture. But, I still get the same msgs in the CBS file.
Per your message below I going to forget about them.

The important thing is my blue screen problem is fixed. Thanks alot for all
your help..

Don
