hi, I have a Gigabyte GA-8IPE775-G mobo, P4 3ghz, Vista and 4GB of
Zepplin DDR400 ram...the system runs fine on 2GB ram but as soon as I
install 4 gb of ram it boots but once booted..after about 1 min it blue
screens and reboots...anyone got any ideas??

I was thinking it is requiring a bios update but did this and no
change! I tried the chipset update but no luck..it still reboots when I
install 4gb of ram.

Ive memtest all modules seperate and all fine.

ok, 550w PSU in, didnt BSOD so early but eventually did...it was the
IRQL Not Equal... one this time..not getting the emmory manager one...

It runs fine with 4 gb ram in safe mode without a hitch!

Here is 4 of the BSOD I got:

Hi Jaskel,

There are many things you can try and you should use some basic
troubleshooting techniques:

- Make sure you have enough disk space.
- If a driver is identified in the bug check message, disable the
driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates.
- Try changing video adapters.
- Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates.
- Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.

Most BSODs usually occur after the use of faulty hardware or in the
event of failure of installed hardware (usually related to defective
RAM, be it main memory, L2 RAM cache, or video RAM).
Another common cause is the installation of a faulty system service.
Antivirus software can also trigger this error, as can a corrupted NTFS
volume.

If hardware has been added to the system recently, remove it to see if
the error recurs. If existing hardware has failed, remove or replace the
faulty component. You should run hardware diagnostics supplied by the
system manufacturer. For details on these procedures, see the owner's
manual for your computer.
Disable the service and confirm that this resolves the error. If so,
contact the manufacturer of the system service about a possible update.
If the error occurs during system startup, restart your computer, and
press F8 at the character-mode menu that displays the operating system
choices. At the resulting Windows *Advanced Options* menu, choose the
*Last Known Good Configuration* option. This option is most effective
when only one driver or service is added at a time.

-Try- Disable some programs and confirm that this resolves the error.
If it does, contact the manufacturer of the program about a possible
update.
Run *Chkdsk /f /r* to detect and repair disk errors. You must restart
the system before the disk scan begins on a system partition. If the
hard disk is SCSI, check for problems between the SCSI controller and
the disk.

Finally, check the System Log in Event Viewer for additional error
messages that might help pinpoint the device or driver that is causing
the error. Disabling memory caching of the BIOS might also resolve it.

Re: BSOD with 4GB Ram in Vista

Reinstall Vista with just 2GB of RAM installed
Update Vista to Sp1
Install your other 2 GB

all BSODs are related to HDD or OS corruption.
try running a checkdisk to check if there's any bad sector.
in safe mode try uninstalling the VC driver, and disabling all startup
items on the msconfig.

It's a known bug with VIsta.
Install Vista with 2GB, and get eveything running OK
Then do windows update and get Vista up to date.
Then put your other 2GB in and you should be ok, as the updates contain a
hotfix for the problem.
As for motarola2 and his "all BSODs are related to HDD or OS corruption",
some people shouldn't be trusted with sharp objects.

That nails it. You are DEFINITELY a MORON.

All BSODs are related to HD or OS corruption???

Um, no. I can prove that inside of 10 minutes - my OS is rock solid
stable, but let me over clock my RAM to 1100 from 1000 MHz and watch my
get a BSOD in 10 minutes flat.

Furthermore, let me remove the OC on my RAM and it runs stable for
(last time I ran it this long) 143 hours straight.

Agreed on the first part.

No comment on the second. Suffice it to say that it did make me laugh ;-)
