Re: Vista mail outbox message stuck

If any messages won't move or can't be deleted, apply this Microsoft fix:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941090

Although that article only mentions Outbox, it works for all mail folders.

You can close WinMail and then move the entire contents of the message
store
directory to another directory and that will start it up fresh. You can
then drag the ?.eml files (messages) back into the WinMail folders or
delete them.

Re: Vista mail outbox message stuck

I tried downloading Hotfix KB941090; I verified I have 32 bit; download
failed; I called Norton Internet Security. Disabled the AntiVirus, we
disabled email scans, we uninstalled the entire Norton Internet Security,
tried re-installing the Hotfix- NOTHING works.
I really am worried about creating a new ID- I am not that tech savvy - and
Vista is so problematic- everything I do is so complex I get more buried -way
over my head...and I don't want to lose many emails (the Norton and my ISP
-ATT -techs all said I may lose emails in Inbox even if I back them up??; I
have too many family emergencies going on- and too much info to risk losing
the emails right now.

Must I go the route of hiring a technician, who might or might not know how
to fix this- if even all the Vista Community resultions don't seem to work?
I've already lost two computers that way...with shaky fixes by not so
technical techies.

Re: Vista mail outbox message stuck

It is troubling that you can't download the Microsoft hotfix. Did it fail
to download or did it fail during the install? Was there an error message?

Do you have Service Pack 1 for Vista installed? SP1 includes that hotfix,
so you don't need the hotfix if you have SP1.

If this problem continues, consider upgrading to Windows Live Mail:
http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview
It will automatically import all your Windows Mail accounts and emails.
What makes you think you may need to create a new ID?
