Hi,
We have 2 drives on our Terminal Services Server C and D. C drive has filled
up and now there are only a few hundred MB left but the D drive is larger
and nearly completly empty. How can I start using the D drive and also free
up space on the C?
Cheers
Lenny

Re: c drive filling up fast

Hello Lenny,

Did you ever run "Disk cleanup" on the server? If not start with that one.
Then if you are sure that updates not needed to be uninstalled you can delete
KBxxxxxx uninstall folders under c:\windows or you move all the uninstall
folders to the other drive, so you can move them back if needed. Do not move/delete
the $hfmig$ folder. Additional you can delete the content fomr the C:\windows\softwaredistribution
folder, this is only needed during update of the server. To delete the content
you have to stop the automatic update service, after deleting start it again
and the folder structure will be rebuilded. Normally you can also move the
pagefile to the other disk, but i am not sure if that is a good solution
for a TS.

Best regards

We also have the main Small Business Server with a large HD where all the
users shared data is stored.

Easy: Put your user shares and your Exchange Data Store (if you run
Exchange) on drive D:.

first find out what is causing the system drive to fill up
you can redirect most log files to an alternate location
you can move the swap file to another volume
you can safely delete roaming profiles all together
they should be loaded from the network on next login

you can use Treesize (free) or Size Explorer (not free) or Jdiskreport
(requires JRE) to find out what is happening

grtz

I love spacemonger for seeing where space is being used.

c drive filling up fast

Hello,

I also have this problem. I have Several Drives on my PC with over 2TB of
total space. But when I bought the PC they had the C drive as 13 GB, every
day I either delete, compress or try to move something off to another drive
and half the time it does not work.....

Any sugestions,,, I have attempted to remove the partition ( can't figure
out how ) Tried to move the entire C to my L drive with over 1 TB of space
it will not work....

The frustrating thing is I never save anything on it but it still fills up
and some programs like JAVA, or and microsoft program refuses to go on any
other drive. Can't even delete Outlook to free up space says it is being
used by another user --- I am the only user on the computer.....

Anyone who can help would be GREAT!!!

How does your problem relate to servers or to Terminal Services? A WinXP
newsgroup might be right for you (if this is what you're running).
