RE: Sound Device
I get this message as well but it is only when I set my computer to standby
or hibernate. It is when the computer is awakened and I try to open a sound
file or something then I get this error message. I check Sounds and Audio
Devices Properties (control panel) and notice that under the Volume, Audio
and Voice tabs that everything is grayed out (buttons and pull-downs)...
there simply is "No Audio Device". In the Device Manager, I run all the
troubleshooting routines to no avail. I check for the latest driver and the
routine verifies that I have it (SignaTel High Definition Audio CODEC, ver
5.10.0.4717, dated 9/9/05). The only thing that fixes this is a reboot. I
don't believe it's a Windows Media Player problem, rather a driver problem.
What's the point of standby or hibernate if I have to reboot each time to
"recover" my sound driver? ...help?
