Recently, my computer has suddenly been experiencing the dreaded blue
screen of death with the message:

"
An exception 0E has occurred at 0028:ff049e14 in VXD

This was called from 0028:c000ABA4 in VXD
"

How can I find out which application or driver is located at these
addresses?

Thanks in advance for your help.

That could prove difficult to diagnose.

(1) Are you sure the name of the vxd in question is not mentioned? What
is tha last thing you do before the crash occurs? Here are 4 articles at
the MSKB...

• Err Msg: A Fatal Exception 0E Has Occurred at 0028:C02A0201...
(187214) - While you are installing Windows and Setup restarts your
computer for the last time, you may receive the following error message

• Fatal Exception Error When Opening or Closing Control Panel

IFSMGR(04) + 0000D4F1. The current application will be terminated.

• "Fatal Exception 0E Has Occurred" Error Message When Attempting to Add

• Problems Using Media Player to Play .avi Files
(191195) - You may receive any of the following error messages when you
play audio- video interleave (.avi) files: A fatal exception 0E has
occurred at 0028:<XXXXXXXX> in Vxd Vmwaudio (01 ...

(2) Perhaps start DrWatson to trap the error. It may name the vxd in
question...

"START button, Run, DRWATSON"; now, D-Clk it's button in the Tray.

What diagnosis is on the first tab? Copy/paste it's contents,
using the menu. Close DrWatson, but leave it in the Tray. It sits
waiting for a crash, then traps it, putting info into the Diagnosis tab.

Make DrWatson to be a startup program...

(a) "START, Find, F/F, DrWatson.exe".
(Should be in "C:\Windows".)
(b) R-Clk it, point to "Send to",
& click "Desktop (Create shortcut)".
(c) R-Clk the shortcut on the Desktop, & select "Cut".
(d) Open Explorer to...
"C:\WINDOWS\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp"
(e) R-Clk in the R-Pane, & select "Paste".

Now, the computer will always boot with DrWatson in the Tray waiting for
a crash or a D-Clk. When you get that crash, copy the data out of the
Diagnosis tab & post it.
