"File type" has gone AWOL.

I'd like to change my file type Icon
I have been to Folder settings / file types
but cannot find it.

Any Ideas?

The file type is *.LZH

any ideas on how to change the default icon?

Have you ever created an association for .LZH?
If so, then you will have the option to "change icon"
If you have not created one, then please do so, unless you have one
already created for you in your zip file type. ( .Zip and .Lzh and
others may be under the one file type of Zip Central or similar)

Theory: do / start / help / index / FILE EXTENSION / associating . . .

Practice:
1. Preselect the utility you intend to use e.g. WINZIP
2. Select (highlight) one data file icon and
2b. simultaneously shift and right click.
3. Select menu option "Open with . . . "
4. From box (or via / Browse) select the utility.
4b. Uncheck the box "Always use this program. . . "
5. Click OK to open the selected data file with
the selected utility program.

Whe this works OK repeat and this time
4b. Check the box. This makes the File Association
permanent (until you change it again.)

No: LZH indicates use of a compression algorithm
patented by three chaps (L, Z and H) as mentioned in
the startup screen for Adobe PDF viewer and some of
the many other utilities that bought licences to use
the LZH algorithm.

"description of type" can be anything, e.g. "LZH files"
"content type" can be left blank.

No, you cannot leave the "action" empty but it is normal to use
"Open", as you will see with other file types. You can use whatever
you like, e.g. Open, Open with whatever application.

Thanks Don,
I saved your text to my run time folder for
future reference.

What I meant was, on <my> computer, the *.lzh
files are only used by a prop program to melt
zipped files.
