I just got the new eee pc 901, great little thing. Comes with 12GB of SSD
storage, with XP. The problem is that the 12GB is on two different SSD, the
main one or C: is only 4GB(!!!) and the secondary one or D: is 8GB.

I want to make only the most important programs and data go/file to that C:
drive and I need to move all of "My Documents" to the D: drive so that I have
space on C: for all of the updates and necessary files for function.

It won't let me do it though... If I try to move "Documents and Settings"
from C: to D:, it tells me that this folder is necessary for critical
function and cannot be moved...

Do I create new "My Documents/pictures/music" folders and load stuff into
them as I go on D:, or is there a way to move these file saving folders over
to that D: drive while still leaving the Program Files on the C: drive?
Wouldn't it be stupid to have two seperate "my documents/pictures/music"
folders and basically render the ones linked everywhere in XP menus useless?
Why can't I just move the original ones? How do I tell it to move to and
"store/work" on D:?

I know many of you are geniuses....let's have it.

Thanks!

How did you attempt to move My Documents? The correct way is to simply
right-click on the My Documents folder (C:\Documents and
Settings\your-user\My Documents), left-click on Properties, and choose
"Move". If you didn't do that, then please try it.

If for some reason that doesn't work because this is a modified install of
XP for the EeePC, just create folders for your data where you want them and
leave the My* folders where they are, empty. No, it's not particularly
stupid to have other data directories. Not everyone uses the My* folders.
What you can't do is delete the My* folders because they are part of the
operating system, but there is no reason to do so either. Just don't use
them if you don't want them.
