There is not enough information here to advise you further. If you can't
tell if ISA is running then I'm not sure you should be doing this. I
recommend you get someone with the required knowledge in to do this. If the
server has not been updated in a long time there are some pitfalls you may
run into with service packs for the the server and for Exchange. Please
don't take this wrong but if you can't figure out if ISA is running then you
don't have the required skills to fix things if something goes wrong while
installing the updates.
If you are determined to do this yourself then follow the advice in the post
from Meinolf Weber. That is the process you need to follow. Make sure you
have good backups and know how to restore them in case something goes wrong.

It is Server 2003 standard with exchange. I don't think I am running
ISA but I inherited this server from someone else.
