Hi,
I've just been asked to look at licensing for a client, and I have a couple
of questions, that I'd like to get straight in my head, as I still find the
whole licensing area complex!
If the client is running 1x File/Print Server (Win 2003 standard server), 1x
Exchange Server (2003), 1x Update/Web Server (Win 2003 standard server), &
1x ISA Server (2006) and they have 10 users, they need:
1) 10 Windows CALs cover all 4 servers, as long as servers are configured in
"per seat" mode?
2) If they brought 10 Core CALs this would cover them for all 4 Windows
Servers, and the Exchange server (as well as any SharePoint/SMS servers they
might get in the future)?
3) Similar question to above, but just to double check - If the client were
to purchase the Open License Value - Company Wide scheme (Professional
Desktop Suite), which includes core CALs, they would be covered for the 4
Windows servers, & Exchange server?
4) This questions is a moot point if the answer to q1 is yes, but if not -
If they have ISA 2006 server running on Windows 2003 standard, do they need
Windows CALs, or just ISA server CALs? (same question goes for Exchange
server if the answer to q1 is no!)
Sorry if these questions, or similar have been asked before, I was hoping
there would be a general microsoft.public.licensing newsgroup, but the ones
that do exist seem to be foreign!
Any help much appreciated!
Cheers
