Hello, I just received an e-mail from the Partner's program about a "Call to
Action" in respect with troublesome issues with Windows Server 2008 that
concerns me as for a new client which is interested in buying a new Windows
Server to conduct his business. As stated: "Windows Server 2008 has a
mechanism to prevent or discourage legacy versions of software from
installing and/or running that you do not want to support on this platform."
There will be other issues as these workstations are presently operating on
XP Professional, and are running Office 2003 application, and intends to
operate a CRM application and Quick Book Accounting.
Before considering building this machine/server with Server 2008, and being
that this Call of Action has been reported, I am seriously concerned about
the components of: Operating System Versioning , Internet Information
Services 7.0, and Active Directory Changes. It seems that the Call of Action
is discouraging, and is attempting me to sell my client Small Business Server
2003 R2.
Please advise, as suggestive measures, if Server 2008 is suitable or best to
avoid this operating system to suit his needs. Because merely he is also in
desperation to use a VPN on his server for remote access, I am concerned that
Server 2008 being issues regarding the "Call of Action" maybe a varible?
Please advise.
