How to launch different versions of MS Office?

Hello,

I am planning on moving to Terminal Service Server 2003. I currently use
Windows 2000 and Windows 2003. We have different versions of MS Office for
different staff. How can I launch the right version of office for the right
person?
Do I need to install every copy of MS Office on the Terminal Server or just
one of every Edition?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Re: How to launch different versions of MS Office?

While it is possible to run differen versions of CERTAIN offices on the same
box, it is neither recommended in any way nor supported. If you seriously
need different vesrions I would use something like softgrid (or whatever MS
is calling it now) or multiple servers.

Re: How to launch different versions of MS Office?

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for your reply, I am reading about softgrid now, but will it be
possible to load different versions of MS Office on multiple servers and then
have only certain people access a particular version of Office using user
profiles?

Thanks.

Re: How to launch different versions of MS Office?

I wouldn't try this, you're bound to create a mess.

From:
828956 - Running Multiple Versions of Microsoft Office with Office
2003
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=828956

"Microsoft does not support the use of multiple versions of
Microsoft Office on a Terminal Server. Coexistence is not supported
on versions of Windows that are running Terminal Services. If you
have to run multiple versions of Office, disable Terminal
Services."

Use different servers, or Microsoft Application Virtualization
(formerly known as SoftGrid), or converge on a single version of
Office.

Re: How to launch different versions of MS Office?

Hi Vera,

Thanks for your advice!

So how do I transfer all my desktop licenses - for the different MS Office
versions - to the Terminal Servers, if possible at all?

Thanks.

Re: How to launch different versions of MS Office?

You really should talk with your local Microsoft representative or
reselller. This is not something you can solve in a newsgroup, it's
not a technical thing, it's a legal thing.
