Migrating TS from 2003 to 2008

I have a client who currently has 2 servers in their organization. One is a
SBS 2003 server that does all the jobs that SBS provides. The second server
is a Server 2003 Std. box that is running Terminal Services and managing
Terminal Server licensing.

We have acquired a new Server 2008 box to replace the Terminal Server. I
have purchased new 2008 TS user CALs for this server.

My question is how to go about migrating Terminal Server Licensing from the
2003 server to the new 2008 server.

If anyone can point me in the direction of some guidance on this subject, I
would greatly appreciate it.

Re: Migrating TS from 2003 to 2008

Since you are replacing the 2003 TS with a 2008 TS, I don't think
that you need to migrate anything. Your 2003 TS CALs on the old LS
are useless when connecting to a 2008 TS.

If you want to have both servers going during the migration period,
I would keep the 2003 TS CALs on the 2003 box and the 2008 TS CALs
on the new 2008 box (you really have no choice here).

If you still want to migrate your 2003 TS CALs to the 2008 LS,
check this:

Re: Migrating TS from 2003 to 2008

Thank you for your prompt reply.

I do want to run the servers simultaneously during the migration. Somehow I
had it in my head that I would only be able to have one license server
running at a time.

Sounds like this is going to be easier than I thought!
