Hi.
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate x64 SP1
Motherboard: 'Asus P5E'
(I have the newest bios)
CPU: 'Intel Core 2 Duo E8400'
Graphic card: 2x 'Ati Sapphire HD 4870'
(crossfire)
Power suply: 'Corsair TX 750W'
Ask if you want to know all the hardware specs.

I bought a new pc a few weeks ago. But I have problems. I have 8GB ram.
Windows Vista freezes after a few minutes when i am using 4GB or more.
The PC freezes 2-30 minutes after I have started it. I dont get any
BSOD. The screen just freezes. The only thing i can do is to turn the
computer of withe the power button.
But when I use only 2GB everything works fine.
I have tryed to run 8GB on Ubuntu from a ”live cd”.
Everything works fine on ubuntu..

Sorry for my bad english

Can we assume that your computer only came with 2G of RAM and that you
added the rest?

If it came with all the RAM, then you have a warranty issue. If not,
are you over-clocking?

The partisjon I have installed Vista on is 65GB.
When i try to install MS KB929777 I get an error message: The update
does not apply to your system

That is for people having problems INSTALLING Vista. Can't you READ?
The KB shows how to modify the installation files to handle the
problem so that Vista can be installed.

The OP already had Vista installed.

Go find someone to recommend system restore or system repair too.

The moron referred you to something he had no idea about.

Vista freezes when I am using more then 2GB ram

I had the same problem and learnt that this Mob has problems with some
brands of ram, after a bit of research it became obvious that the problem
was the NB core voltage, by default it is set to Auto - I set it to 1.57
volts and have had no further problems, hope this helps !

I agree. Teh OP has a warranty issue if his machine came with all RAM over
2GB
otherwise, he needs to replace those sticks which are causing the problem.

He needs to check to see that his ram is still operational using Vista's RAM
test software.
