NTFS permissions work for group but not user

I've run into an odd problem open files from one of our file servers,
when logged into the Citrix box.

If I assign a group permission to a folder, then the user can open it
fine. However, if I just assign permissions to the user then they are
denied access. This is only happening on one file server, the other
one seems to work fine. Both file servers have the same GPO
applied.

All the workstations can access the folders/files without any
problems.

I'm not even sure where to start looking, so any ideas would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Wayne

Are the share permissions set on the group and not everyone or authenticated
users? That would do it.

Share permissions are set for everyone. I've tried several different
groups and they all work fine, it's just when I assign users that it
fails.

I should have also included the following details:
All servers are running Windows Server 2003. The only difference is
that the problematic file server is running SP2, the others are not.

Re: NTFS permissions work for group but not user

Hello wmeehan79@gmail.com,

please post the share permissions and also the security permissions for the
group and for the user. For the security permissions also post the other
ones(if exist).

It's not a problem with how the share or folder permissions are set, I
do this kind of thing all the time.

I've investigated a bit further and found that if the user account
doesn't have a UPN logon, just the pre-windows 2000 login then it
works fine. As soon as I give them a UPN logon then authentication
fails.
