Print Management and missing domain controller

Hi

I don't quit know how to explain my problem, but here goes :-)

We/I use Server 2003 R2 and print management to manage the company printers.

We deploy all printers through Print Management. As far as I can understand
Print Management actually checks for printer changes at every login, if a
printer has been removed from Print Management it removes it when the user
logs in.

My problem is that sometimes some of our users loses all the printers, if I
check the log from Print Management I can see that all the printers have been
removed because it couldn't find the domain controller, when this happens the
users default printer is changed to a local printer, for example Microsoft
Document Writer.
The part about not finding the domain controller is a bit strange because
the users get the login script without any problems, it only the Print
Management that fails.

This is what ppcUser.log tells me:
.... Failed to get the user GPOs.
.... No Deployed Printer Connection settings were found in Active Directory.

/Lasse

Re: Print Management and missing domain controller

If you have Fast Logon Optimization enabled, disable it and verify this
configuration addresses the issue.
