Thanks to all who commented on my previous post of 08-13-08. I had already
read what Jeff Pitsch had suggested and followed that suggestion. Install
the printer on TS and then delete the installed printer. That was a very
simple procedure, I wonder why I could not find the install instructions
anywhere on the many links I have bookmarked for my Terminal Server project.

Jeff, thank you!! I have 3 printers working on the terminal server now.

I do have a problem though, and wish for direction or suggestions. The
first printer I tried to install was a HP 1300 and I was informed it was
install on the client machine that was doing the RDC. When I would look in
the Event Viewer of the TS I could see 3 other printers try to make a
connection or atleast leaving error messages in the event viewer. I went
ahead and added those print drivers and then my remote RDC Client could print
on those 3 printers. I did not see the HP 1300 asking for a connection or
making any eror message in the TS event viewer. We nver got the HP 1300 to
work. THe guy on the client machine was thinking he needs to have that
printer shared. Is this True??????? Why did not the HP 1300 try to find
it's drivers on the Terminal Server?????

Many Thanks to all,
fox7

No, the client does *not* have to share the printer for redirection
to work.
If there are no messages at all, it usually means that the server
doesn't "see" the client printer at all. And that can happen when
it is connected to a non-standard port.

Check if this helps:

302361 - Printers That Use Ports That Do Not Begin With COM, LPT,
or USB Are Not Redirected in a Remote Desktop or Terminal Services
Session

Vera:
Yes!!! Yes!!! It is using the port DOT4. The user tells me it is
connected via a USB cable. Can I just have him check the USB port under
ports tab, where we verified it was a DOT4???

What, or why is it DOT4 anyway??

Thanks,
fox7

DOT4 ports are a "specialty" of many HP USB-connected printers,
don't ask me why :-)
You'll have to use the registry key mentioned in the KB article to
fix it.
