Re: How can I knwo how many Licenses I have??

Which OS are you running, Windows 2003 I assume?
You can start the Terminal Services Licensing manager on the server,
from Start Menu - Administrative tools, and it will show you how many
licenses you have installed on the server and how many of them are in
use.

Is this what you want to know?

okay... that's great... i have the values Unlimited for "Total" and Unlimited
for "Available" and 0 for "Issued".. does the unlimited numebr of licenses
means that I have infnity number of licenses???

Re: How can I knwo how many Licenses I have??

I'm guesssing your servers are in per user mode and your looking at the
Windows 2000 pieces on the unlimited. If you are in per user mode on the
terminal servers, and you never installed a license pack, you'll never know
how many licenses are being used since the license server does not track or
do anything with per user licensing.

Re: How can I knwo how many Licenses I have??

Mohammad, you never answered this question:
> Which OS are you running, Windows 2003 I assume?

If your Terminal Servers are running Windows 2000 and your clients
run W2K Pro or XP Pro, then yes, you have unlimited free licenses.

But if your Terminal Servers are running Windows 2003 or 2008, or
your clients run an OS other than those mentioned above, then no,
you cannot use the built-in Windows 2000 TS CALs, and you have
obviously not bought or installed any other licenses, otherwise
they would show up in the TS Licensing manager.
You'll have to buy a TS CAL for every user or client who is going
to connect to the Terminal Server(s).

Re: How can I knwo how many Licenses I have??

Hello,

To know the number of licenses installed, you just need to open "TS License
Manager" from Start->Administrative Tools->Terminal Services->TS License
Manager.

On the left panel click on the name of license Server Machine and on right
panel you will get the list of installed licenses, issued and available
ones.

Re: How can I knwo how many Licenses I have??

OK, so your TS runs W2K and your clients run W2K Pro or XP Pro,
correct?
If so, then you can create another W2K Terminal Server and let it
use the same licensing server, and the built-in pool of free W2K
Per Device licenses.

Did you read my post from a few days earlier about per user licensing? Did
you ever check whether you are per user or per device?

Re: How can I knwo how many Licenses I have??

If you only have the built-in pool of W2K licenses, then you are
violating the EULA. Your 2003 servers cannot use W2K licenses, so
it seems that you have configured your TS to use the Per User
licensing mode. Per User licenses are unmanaged, that's why your
users can still connect, but it's not legal.

You have to buy a TS CAL for every user or client which connect to
the se servers.
