Backups for Exchange 2007 on Windows 2003 SP2 server:
Both with Symantec and NTbackups, both the Volume Shadow Copy Service and MS
Shadow Copy Provider stop after completing a 'successful' backup - without
any errors recorded in the event logs.
VSS previously ran continuously on the server (i.e. continued to run after a
backup had finished).
I take it the point youre making ins that VSS stops after a backup and then
restarts..
It now stops after the backup finishes...and does not restart.
Unless MS designed VSS to be restarted after each backup (i.e. daily),
(which I suspect they didn't), I see this as a problem..
Previous versions are not currenlty used in our organisation..

Researched this but cant find anything specific to VSS stopping
'unexpectedy' like this.
Where to start on this problem?
Mant thanks

Thanks Ace for the reply,
The server is a physical IBM XSeries 3850, and no not a clone :/
I did root this out from somwhere as the nearest 'related' post...
However it is SBS, two years old, and refers to Shadow copies for Shared
folders..which are note used by us.
I'm rather loathe to go poking around with DLLs on a production sever too..!

I would add also that this problem is occuring on another of our Exchange
2007 servers in another site.

Thanks.
