Multiple copies of Wininet.dll

I am running Windows XP Pro with sp3.

I have multiple copies of Wininet.dll on my computer, in various
sub-directories. From the System32 directory, the IE7 directory, to
individual program sub-directories. Many of them are different sizes, from
460kb to 1800kb, with different creation dates.

First, can I delete all of them and replace them with the latest version as
indicated by the most recent date of the .dll file?

Second, I have a program (RemoveII Pro by Incodesolutions) that will not
download the latest updates to the data file. In contacting their technical
support, their response was that the Wininet drivers were busy or corrupted.

They said that this could be caused by a recent installation of Norton's
360, and that I should back up my inportant data files, reinstall Windows XP
Pro and install RemoveIT Pro on a fresh Windows Copy.

This seems like a drastic measure to take, but one that I will try if
everything else fails.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to solve these two problems?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Multiple copies of Wininet.dll

IN RE the WININET.DLL files: No. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

IN RE updating the questionable application Remove Pro: This issue may
indeed be due to the recent install of Norton 360. I'd recommend either
uninstalling Remove Pro or getting your other problems (e.g.,
http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windowsxp.general/browse_frm/thread/560709c1d4d19517)
resolved first.
