RE: Can someone post a DIR listing?

You just use the directory command from within DOS. <Disk Operating System>
to get what you need. eg.

c:/dir/p

c:/dir/w

etc.

Reformat the following in a fixed space font and you
can work it out for yourself.

Re: Can someone post a DIR listing?

If what you're saying is that you want t list of files in a Windows 98
system, you need to specify what version, whether fully updated or not, and
a lot more info than you have provided thus far. Also, nobody with half a
brain is going to post such a list here (much to large.)

If what you're saying is that you need to see the output of any Win98 DIR
command, just to see the format (layout) then you need to specify which
switches to use (/verbose, /wide, , and in this case it is perhaps easier to
transmit that information via images (screen shots).

Perhaps this site will assist you:

A listing dont have to be long, a short is enaugh, The onlu thing
I want is the format from the output from the command 'dir'.

I am from Holland and have only the Dutch version, and I am sure
the format is different.

The only thing you have to do, is open a DOSshell, type in
'dir > list.txt' and post the content from list.txt here in the
group.

Re: Can someone post a DIR listing?

YW, note the original FULL text file listing was over 2,663KB {and that just
for C:\ drive, not the diagnostic, testing, and networking tools, and other
files and folders on other drives}, whereas the file I sent was 473KB.
Depending upon exactly what your program's intent is, there are much more
viable ways to retrieve, locate, and define the directory/folder structures
and file placements within program coding.

Good luck with the program.

Thanks. It was enaugh, the most important thing is the listing
format. In the meantime I put the tool on my site, the name is
sdir.exe.

Re: Can someone post a DIR listing?

I TOLD YOU IT WAS A FRESH INSTALL!!!! I did it at midnight while watching
the Late Late Show and posting a few replies to the NGs. Once it got to
"Boom-shakalaka" intro panel, I disabled that and shut it down. I only sat
down again at MY computer at noon and OP's was the fifth post I replied to.

It's a test installation and I'm going to throw it way, probably, after I
get through with some other tests, mostly in Command Prompt Only mode (and
to use WINFILE to further assist Mary, when she shows up again.) Why bother
with unnecessary additional work?

You still get The Late Late Show in California? We don't even get just
The Late Show in New York anymore-- not on regular HDTV channels,
anyhow! Are you sure you aren't just remembering a twenty year old
memory?!

Alright. I wasn't aware of all that but might have guessed. Oops, that's
right, Folder Options doesn't apply to DOS. OK, fine-- remember to use
"/A", then, in your DIR listings!
