Hi All,

I am at my wits end now.

I had a hdd failure last week Friday, I have now purchased a replaceebt HDD
and I am trying RECREATE not rebuild a mirro between the driver that was in
the server and the new HDD. But the HDD seem to have a 100MB size diff where
the current driver is 100MB larger than the new drive.

So when I right click and try to add a mirror, it is grey out.

Please any advaice ASAP.

Thanx

I think you have three options:
a) Reduce the size of your existing partition, using a partition manager.
b) Buy a larger disk.
c) Continue without a mirror.

Thanx, I thought so, I was hoping that there was another reason that was
causing this that I had not thought of.

Any suggestions on a partition manager?

Thanx

Re: Mirror in Server 2003

If this is a server then Acronis DiskDirectory would be able to handle it.
However, a larger disk would be a more cost-effective option.

Re: Mirror in Server 2003

Here is another option. It is a zero-risk method because it is fully
reversible up to Step 6.
1. Partition and format the new disk. Mark the primary partion as "active".
2. Boot the machine with a Bart PE boot CD.
3. Use robocopy.exe to copy all files from the old to the new disk.
4. Disconnect the old disk.
5. Boot the machine with the new disk.
6. Let it run for a week.
7. If all is well, delete all partitions from the old disk, preferably
while it is connected to some other machine.
8. Reconnect the old disk to the server and rebuild the mirror.
