Hello!
I have a Win 2000 terminal server that I locked down a couple of years ago
using the "Locking Down Windows Server 2003 Terminal Server Sessions"
document. It is a member server in an SBS 2003 domain, with the GPO being on
the SBS 2003 server and applied to a "Terminal Servers" OU that has only the
TS in it.
I had it set so that users could see only the All Users desktop and had
their own Star Menu where they could have icons specific to particular
users. Now I want them to be able to have their own desktop as well as the
All Users desktop because some users want the ability to create shortcuts on
the TS desktop to frequently used files that reside on the SBS server's
Public folder. For the life of me, I cannot find how to do that!
In my notes, I have a statement telling me, "Using GPO Editor, under User
Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar Items,
disable "Remove common program groups from Start Menu", thereby making the
All Users desktop available and keeping individual users’ desktops
available." Well, when I do that and then log in as a normal user, all of
the desktop icons that are on the All Users desktop are doubled. There are
two Excel icons, two Word icons, etc. If I enable the GPO setting again, the
doubling goes away.
While logged into the TS with LogMeIn to the console, I created a new text
document on the TS in the All Users desktop folder, and on the users TS
session, TWO of them showed up!
Another thing I have Googled to death is trying to find a GPO setting to
enable icon auto arrange for all users.
Anybody have a clue?
Thank you!
