Computer restart required...

When I see this message do I really have to restart the computer or
will restarting the explorer process suffice?
I know that it usually works for XP PCs. Would it also work for a
server?

Sometimes important system files need an update which is not possible when
the machine is running, so if prompted for a reboot do it, maybe after business
hours but i would do it.
