This was written a year ago.. and indeed apple has seen a huge increase of
sales of its OS.
I don't hate vista, hey, Im using it right now... but I know that its not
the vista that was promised to us.. not be far... it's a crippled and
problematic OS that I have been able to tame
and I use it only because I have a 4 core with 4 gigs of ram, and I don't
care if it needs some hundred megaflops only to carry its arse around...

C|Net: Vista Blunder Will Accelerate Leopard Market Share
by John Martellaro, 12:05 PM EDT, October 30th, 2007

Microsoft has blundered with Vista in terms of its user interface approach,
and it won't take long before Apple's gain in market share will become
staggering, according to Don Reisinger in his C|Net Blog.

"Simply put, Mac OS X Leopard is one of the most significant operating
system achievements we have witnessed in years," Mr. Reisinger wrote. "Not
only does it add functionality that Microsoft could only have dreamed of, it
does so in a snappy environment that doesn't annoy you with pop-ups asking
for permission or all of those security threats we have come to know (and
hate) in Windows."

Basically, Microsoft has fallen and it can't get up. Microsoft's own allies
in PC manufacturing balked at Vista from a consumer perspective and
continued to retain XP as an option. "The entire industry is disappointed by
Windows Vista. I really don't think that someone has bought a new PC
specifically for Vista," Acer CEO Gianfranco Lanci explained.

As a result, Microsoft has been forced to launch a premature marketing
campaign that discusses the Vista successor and remedies that will be taken
in order to take the sting out of the poor reception of Vista. In addition,
XP Service Pack #3 will essentially eliminate the need for Vista.

Microsoft's corporate response has been to helplessly flail about by
purchasing companies that will help it retain relevance. However, more to
the point, Microsoft has lost the ability to change. As a result, the rise
of Apple's market share will become more and more noticeable, and Microsoft
will continue to unravel.

Re: predictions that came true>> Vista Blunder Will Accelerate Leopard Market Share

Interesting article and yes vista has suffered but in overall market
share, the increase in mac share does still look rather insigificant,
check the figures 'here '
(http://marketshare.hitslink.com/report.aspx?qprid=11)and it doesn't
look that bad for M$. the 25% rise quoted for macs is based on their
original market share which was negligable against the overall figures.
I think M$ will be around a while yet ;). whether that is a good or a
bad thing is another question, one that I for one am undicided on
 statistics can tell you whatever the ad deptments want them
to.

refused to qualify your statement with anything other than your hatred.
So, either answer this question or else just STFU:

Which large multi-national software corporation have you been a top

marketing/advertising agency have you been a top level executive with?

Failure to properly respond will mean that you base your opinion only on
your hatred of MS/Vista and not on any real knowledge or experience.
Well...?

Who exactly do you think you're lying to huh?

And you're a qualified, educated, degreed, credentialed experienced

So if I'm what you say then what are you, seeing as how I've been
successfully using Vista in a productive business environment now for
almost two yrs whereas you can't even get one little install of Vista to
run properly.
Well...how about some facts here huh?
Or maybe you should just STFU!

The only thing to "figure out" about Vista is the original version
shipped was bug riddled and now Microsoft with egg all over their face
is desperately trying to save face.

My 3 year old Dell D510 cheapo laptop runs better with Vista than XP. It
has a Pentium M 1.73 Ghz single core CPU and 2 Gigs of RAM. I noticed
the improvement immediately after installing the Vista upgrade. I was
kind of nervous about the upgrade and thought it would be crippled by
Vista. I guess it had new enough architecture to absorb Vista without
ANY problems. I upgraded this laptop about 10 months ago.

I'd say you had a bad XP install, or something running that was slowing it
down.
I have never seen Vista run faster than XP on the same hardware...Even on my
Q6600/4GB/512MB PCIe/2x500GB SATA

lol...... my HDD don't fire up anymore really....now its cached its
super quick!!
& the assumption that vista needs a quad to perform well is outrageous
:eek::eek:
i have an E2180 ....& have almost 0 response times :sarc:
if your rig is sluggish with a quad or dual core .....thats not where
the problem lies.

My quad dual boots Vista and XP.
XP runs sooooooo much better on it...
