Hello,

I am preping for the 292 and 296 exams and going back to read through
Manasi's bible. Been working with server and AD for awhile, but some of
these options I have never done and its got me confused. Hope someone can
help.

1. When performing an unattended install, you just run the Setupmgr.exe
and answer the questions as an Unattended install. I have done this for
Sysprep when ghosting clients. Then changed the answer file to "winnt.sif"
and copy it to a floppy. Put the Cd and floppy into the server and then hit
space bar when prompted to boot from CD. Sound correct?

2. When slipstreaming SP2 into a distribution share install the book says
I need to copy the I386 off the CD to a folder called I386. When I extract
the SP with the -x switch I then place that on my C:\ drive in a folder
called SP2. I then cd to c:\sp2\updates and run "update -s:d:\I386 and it
says it completed. How can I tell that the original I386 I copied off the CD
has been updated with the SP2 info? Is there a file or folder it creates? I
see some file dates changed, not sure what to look for. I also do not have
another server to test on right now. Now that I have slipped the SP2 into
the I386, do I remove it from within the I386 folder and share it or do I
leave it inside so it looks like C:\I386\I386?

3. When I perform a distribution share install, it mentions that I can
create a folder called $OEM$ inside the I386 and place any/all text files for
msiexec /i installs? So do I copy the msiexec.exe off a working server and
place it as well as the text file I created with all the commands I would
like to run or reg settings I would like to change? Is it better to place
the actual *.msi file inside the shared I386 also and point my msiexec to it
or keep it on another server share?

Thanks
