Hello,

I have a Windows 2003 TS License server in place for my Citrix PS(Xen)
4.5 farm.

All my users login to the farm from WYSE 1125's and S10's.

I have a good number of licenses that are issued to devices that are
no longer around causing me to be currently out of TS CALS. I know
they will re-enter the available pool when they expire. The
expiration dates are spread out over the next 3 months. I would like
to get these licenses back know instead of waiting.

The only way I can do this is by resetting up my TS Lic server.

My main concern with this is what affect will that have on all my
currently valid issued licenses to my WYSE units? Will they still
function with their currently issued license and just grab a new one
from the reinstalled license server when it expires or will they have
problems immediately if I do the resinstall?

If I do this reinstall during working hours will that affect currently
logged in users?

Thanks.

Re: 2003 TS Licensing reinstall

Why do you need them back now? The currect license server will hand out
temp licenses that will expire after the old licenses are put in the pool.

Jeff,
Thanks for the reply. I had a WYSE unit last week that could not
login, stating no licenses available. This prompted me to look into
the situation and during my investigation I found what I stated above.
Yes, I can wait until they expire to get them back but I was trying to
avoid this situation like I had last week.

Re: 2003 TS Licensing reinstall

Sounds like you have too many devices for the licenses you have they are
being cannabilized from each other even witht he expiration. You would have
to call the clearinghouse to free up your licenses but I would highly
recommend doing a review of the number of workstations actually taking
licenses because my guess is you don't have enough licenses to begin with.
