Forwarding port

[Paulo]

Hi, is possible to do a native port forward on W2k3?

example, if cames from 2121 port redirects to port 80 on the server...
because I think that my router is blocking default ports like 80...

the 211 port I can reach the server...

If I understand you correctly, this is something you'd have to set up in
your router.

Yes, but I cant, for any reason I dont know...

I need to do it on w2k3... If cames from 2121 (router sends to win and works
fine), the win2k3 needs to forward to 80..

is it possible to be done?

It probably has a "web management interface" that runs on port 80. It is
probably enabled on the External side interface when it probably should not
be,...it should only be allowed on the internal side interface most of the
time. Turn "remote management" off for the External side and then try the
Static NAT to your web site again.

I had one this way that used 8080 as a management port on the external side
that the ISP used to work with the thing during "support calls". But it
kept us from doing a Static NAT on 8080 which we needed to do. So that was
disabled, and then the Static NAT worked fine after that.

The "web management interface" router runs on 8080...

Maybe my ISP/ADSL is blocking port 80, just because of it I need to do it on
w2k3.

If it is not a "business account" then that is very likely. This is common
for ISPs to do this after the Nimda and CodeRed outbreak several years ago.
They don't want "home-users" running rogue websites,..particularly since
they never maintained the machines/sites properly resulting in them getting
infectioned and becomeing "zombies" to spread the infection all over the
Internet. It was said that CodeRed and Nimda was spead all over the
Internet mostly by "unofficial" web sites run by "home users".

Contact your ISP.

I need to open the port to my customers access my server outside and see my
web app...

Any examples?

You need to ensure that your ISP is not blocking the port, and you need to
have control over the router or perimeter firewall. If you don't have the
latter, how would you even let port 2121 *in* ?

Ok,...no I don't think it is possible,...there I said it

Even if it could be done,..I probably wouldn't do it. I don't like confusing
messes to document or maintain,...I like things done in a clean, correct,
organized, self-documenting, and a generally industry standardized way. I
just try to go straight for what I feel is the correct solution,...I don't
like to cloud the conversation with methods that I don't think could be done
or should be done.
