I have a WU error 80004002, an the windowsupdate.log say:

Reopen the WindowsUpdate.log.
Scroll all the way to the bottom of it.
Work your way back up the log and look for an entry like this:

2008-09-09 11:34:50:583 1652 dec Misc =========== Logging initialized
(build: 7.2.6001.784, tz: -0700) ===========

The build: shows the Version of the Windows Update Agent [WUA] that is
installed.

Please post the trailing [the portion of the log after the above entry]
section that shows:

Always state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Vista SP1) when
posting to this newsgroup, please.

Error message when you try to install updates by using the Windows Update or
Microsoft Update Web site: "0x80004002":

Tip: Use Method 2.
