I have a Win 2003R2 terminal server, that I have locked down a little to
much. Because of the Group Policy setting "Prevent access to drives on my
computer", users are not able to edit the content of Quick Launch, so that it
can contain Word and Excel. Now I dont want to remove the setting, because I
dont want users to have access to the drives. But what can I do to "create"
the right Quick Launch bar, with the icons that I want in. I should mention
that they use roaming profiles.

Best regards

You can add icons to users quick launch by going to c:\documents and
settings\<username>\application data\microsoft\internet explorer\quick
launch"

Jep I know. But I would like som "automatic" way of duing that or a setting
that enables the users to du it themselvs.

Re: Quick Launch - how to edit

If you've prevented them access there's not going to be much of a way of
doing it. I think you could give them command line but hat would defeat the
purpose. If you want it to automatically fill it, you could use a script to
easily populate the icon area.

Re: Quick Launch - how to edit

why don't you tell them to drag'n'drop existing/created shortcuts just to
the quick launch area in the taskbar?

programmatically: enumerate all the profiles from the registry (profiles
list) and use the path Jeff told you to create shortcuts there. vbs/c/cpp
whatever you want will do the job.
