when I run "net time /set" the DC name to sync suggested is not the PDC!?
I have two DCs in my site - how can I choose which one is used as a time
source?

Thanks

Re: w2k8 time services

Hello Gueorgui,

The time source in the domain is always the PDCEmulator. Run "netdom query
fsmo" to find out which one it is. Also "w32tm" is the newer command line
tool.

Re: w2k8 time services

I thought it should point to PDC as well, but is not for some reason - all
computers seem to sync time with the second DC, which is not holder of any
FSMO roles. I'll try to see if any additional logging of the time service
will shed any light

Re: w2k8 time services

Hello Gueorgui,

Domain time synchronization works with the PDCEmulator as the master in the
domain, all other DC's sync with it and all member servers and clients sync
with one available DC.
