Burning IMG file to DVD

I downloaded Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition with SP2 (Trial
edition) Microsoft's download page says to download and burn the ISO to CD or
DVD but the download is a IMG extention, not ISO.
I have tried to burn the IMG to DVD but all it does is move the file to the
DVD and not extract it like a ZIP or ISO would. I am using Sonic DigitalMedia
but can't seem to figure how to extract it. I have looked all over google for
an answer and everyone seems to have this problem. I have changed the
extention to ISO but that didn't do anything.
Here is the link

Re: Burning IMG file to DVD

simply changing the file extension should do it. you might want to try it
again with Explorer set to show known file extensions to make sure you don't
have something like:

imageName.iso.img

Your right, there is not a lot on the net about this, but changing the
extension will do it.

Re: Burning IMG file to DVD

Simply changing the extention to ISO doesn't do it. All it does is move the
ISO files to DVD and doesn't extract them.
This is all over the internet about people not being able to change the IMG
to ISO and burn it or extract it. Anyone at Microsoft listening? The download
should be an ISO or ZIP file!

Re: Burning IMG file to DVD

Hello Steve,

You can download and install MagicDISC from here:
http://www.magiciso.com/tutorials/miso-magicdisc-overview.htm?=mdisc_hlp97

Then mount the .img file with it and you can run/install it directly without
burning to disk. Or copy the content to harddisk and burn it then.
