RE: Welcome back Carlos

Thanks for the warm welcome, Hugh!
It is amazing how many zillions e-mail can populate your mailbox (both at
work and at home) when you are out just two weeks.
Also much of the software I currently use (ZTreewin, Media Player Classic,
WinRAR, ffdshow, etc.) has had updates as well as the Microsoft "second
Tuesday" monthly updates.
I guess that tonight I will end with the updates and start working on the
daily issues.
I have also seen that the freeware Virtualbox (www.virtualbox.org) now
supports x64 OS's.
That is really good news because the only way to run an x64 OS on a virtual
machine was using VMWare (non freeware).
Thanks again!

Re: Welcome back Carlos

Well, no, you can run your 64bit virtual machines on Hyper-V too. Of course,
that means running Server 2k8 as your OS, obviously. And having the hardware
for it. But I routinely have multiple 64-bit VMs on one of my three Hyper-V
servers.

Glad to see you're back, Carlos. I hope your vacation was all you'd hoped
for and that you're now recovered and ready to dig in and have fun.

Meanwhile, a bit of warning. There appear to be even more issues than usual
with messages not propagating correctly between the NNTP and Web versions of
the newsgroups, and it's especially a problem for anyone using Windows Mail
or Live Mail with the Community Features enabled. I know you sometimes use
the web interface (I don't understand it, of course<g>), so be aware that
all those "message rating things" are causing problems.

Re: Welcome back Carlos

Yes, definitely good to have you back!

It's true the Inbox tends to fill up rapidly - but you should have little
trouble keeping abreast with the goings-on here?

Re: Welcome back Carlos

Does, doesn't it? Helps get through the LONG winter nights, at least. Though
that should be improving now. At least, I sure see my days getting shorter
fast.

Re: Welcome back Carlos

And down here we are steadily heading for the LONG summer days.
By Dec 21st the sun will rise at 3:00AM and will be a faint light in the
horizon after midnight.
Current temp is 8C (almost 50F), not bad for the last days of winter though
the #$%&@ patagonian wind is blowing at 40 km/h.

Re: Welcome back Carlos

8 degrees isn't bad for September, certainly. And you can hardly complain
about the patagonian wind - it's not like you ever get much of a break from
it! <G>

Lows today around 10-12, highs around 24. Nothing but sun - if this keeps
up, we'll actually have corn this year. Amazing given how late summer was.
June-bearing strawberries didn't come in until the 2nd week in July! But
this month has been lovely. Now the sunsets are coming earlier and earlier -
7:24 tonight, and it's moved at least 20 degrees further south on the
horizon.
