I felt that perhaps search was slow so i went to the Modify button in the
Indexing Options control panel applet where to my surprise i see duplicate
Outlook 2007 accounts in the search locations (ie: 2 instances of
xxx@hotmail.com and 2 instances of xxx@gmail.com, Personal Folders, etc...)
and all of them are selected by checkboxes. i dont know which one is the
original or the duplicate, so i tried to go to Advanced Options and tried
Rebuild and Restore Defaults thinking that, perhaps doing this would
reinitialize my index settings and would properly see the actual email
accounts that are active in my Outlook, but is is of no avail as the
duplicate items are still there.

Is there a way to fix this? Could this be slowing down my index since it is
possible that it indexed the same outlook file twice? There is no Option in
the Indexing Options applet to see if the duplicates are pointing to a
single PST. To be sure, i checked the Folder List of Outlook and there are
no duplicate open folders there.

For your reference, i took a screenshot which i posted here

Re: Problem with Vista indexing and Outlook

you have 2 personal folders listed in the outlook items on the left pane of
outlook...

since both have inboxes for example that’s why you are seeing that...

if you don’t want that, use only one PST file and right click on the other
"personal folders" and close it.

Re: Problem with Vista indexing and Outlook

You'll probably need to make a new profile to fix it.

but first..
Are some of the duplicates from imap accounts? Is hotmail using http or
outlook connector?
Did you try unchecking the duplicates you know are duped to see if it speeds
things along? The 3 personal folders will be hard - although you could
rename the two in your profile so they are identifiable.
